Registration is now open for the Toagie 5K Run, Walk & Stroll benefitting the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic that has been a beacon of hope for those in need of access to justice, providing trusted, accessible and free legal services in the areas of domestic violence, housing and immigration. The public is invited to put on their sneakers, grab their family, friends, strollers and pets and join the fun on Saturday, July 17th at 9 a.m. in Downtown Highwood. The start/finish line will be at the intersection of Waukegan and Walker Avenues.
“Celebrate Highwood has been a steadfast supporter of the Clinic since the inception of the 5K. We have experienced a 30% increase in cases since the beginning of the year, and cases have nearly doubled compared to this time last year. It is without question that the funds raised this year will be put to use immediately providing access to justice to those in need,” says Susan Shulman, Executive Director of North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic.
All registered participants will receive a goodie bag with Toagie T-shirt, coupon for a free taco from two-time Most Authentic Taco winner La Plancha Loca (must be redeemed at La Plancha Loca’s booth at Toagie Fest), margarita courtesy of Cuervo Traditional, beer courtesy of Ravinia Brewing Company, or soft drink, and snacks from Simple Slices and Power Up Premium Trail Mix. In addition, registrants can sign up to receive a FREE Bootcamp or CrossFit class from Performance Factory Training (PFT) the though August 31st, 2021. Must call PFT at (847) 748-8441 to reserve a spot.
Runners and walkers can sign up HERE now through midnight on Friday July 16th. The registration fee for the Toagie 5K Run, Walk & Stroll is $35 per participant (stroller kids are free). Pre-race packet pick up will take place on Thursday, July 15th from 7:30-9 a.m., noon-1:30 p.m. and 5-6:30 p.m. at Performance Factory Training at 525 Bank Lane in Highwood.
On-site registration and packet pick up will begin on race day, Saturday, July 17th at 7:30 a.m. at “Enjoy Highwood Park” at the southeast corner of Walker and Waukegan Avenues (just north of Bent Fork Bakery at 355 Waukegan Avenue). PFT will lead participants in a pre-race warm up and post-event cool down and stretching. Water bottles will be available courtesy of Windy City Dispensary.
